Mental Health Clinic

My primary goal as a Psychotherapist is to assist clients in a supportive and collaborative manner on enhancing their ability to function more successfully at home, school, work and social environment in the context of their presented behaviorally based problems or emotional condition with the objective of moving rapidly from assessment of the client’s presenting problem to formulating and implementing an appropriate treatment plan that addresses the client’s needs and goals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is my preferred form of psychological treatment, which focuses on the client’s presented faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking and the client’s learned patterns of unhelpful behavior with the aim of helping clients change their thinking patterns. This helps clients learn to recognize their distortions in thinking that are creating problems and evaluate them considering reality. Clients gain a better understanding of their motivations and the motivation of others. Learning to use problem-solving skills to cope with their presented difficult situations helps the client develop a greater sense of confidence in one’s own abilities. Moreover, when warranted to help clients learn to face their fears instead of avoiding them, I use role play exercises to help clients prepare for potentially problematic interactions with others and help clients learn to calm their minds and relax their bodies.

Play Therapy is another preferred form of psychotherapy I utilize in practice when working with children presenting difficulties with expressing themselves or emotions.

I have over 39 years of clinical experience as a New York State License Clinical Social Work and have worked with vast client populations.
