“Growing up, I learned that it’s always important to give back to others,” said Robert Serenbetz, Chair of HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services Junior Board. About 20 young professionals have joined together to fundraise, mentor and champion children and youth in foster care. Robert is leading those efforts.
The Serenbetz Family Foundation’s generous charitable giving to non-profits has included the HSVS American Dream Program, which offers tuition scholarships and other support to young men and women who have experienced foster care and never thought they’d have the opportunity to attend college. “I’m very proud of my family’s legacy and what our foundation has accomplished. As a member of the Junior Board, I’m taking the next step to being more actively involved and connected to the children and families we serve,” said Robert. “I’ve always loved being around kids, so this is the perfect fit for me.”
Robert, who is an Investment Strategist at Credit Suisse, uses his expertise to handle the Junior Board’s finances. His financial acumen hasn’t stopped him from jumping into a variety of roles. “It’s definitely tested my organizational skills! I’m honored to have this leadership role,” he said. Robert debuted in his role as Chair in an Easter Bunny costume earlier this year. The Junior Board’s inaugural event was an Easter celebration for kids in care.
Since that time, under Robert and his Co-Chair Dalia Mechanic, the Junior Board hosted happy hours, a salsa night and even raised enough money to send off HeartShare St. Vincent’s record 50 American Dream Scholars off to college with luggage and other gifts.
